I want you to know that I appreciate you. I am especially grateful that you chose me to be your therapist. I feel blessed to be able to do the work I love, to live out my passion, and you make that possible.
I want you to know that I feel privileged to take part in your journey, to hear your story and be a witness to the moments that you feel define you. I am hoping that along the way you realize that your value comes from within, not from anything that has happened to you.
I want you to know that I understand what it is like to be vulnerable, and that it isn’t easy. And when you choose to be vulnerable, you are choosing to grow, and it is through this growth, that anything becomes possible. Never forget that you are stronger than your weakest moment.
I want you to know that I care. I see the pain surfacing as we talk about things you thought were deeply buried, forgotten, or never to be found. I see your struggle. It’s as real as you sitting here in front of me. I promise to hold this space for you until you are ready to carry it on your own.
I want you to know that I value you and our time together. I realize that I can learn as much from you as you can from me. Together, we will find a way for you to live a meaningful life.
I want you to know that I will always cheer you on, even after our time together ends. If you feel like you have no one else in your life, know that you will always have me on the sidelines. If we never meet again, know that you meant something to me and made a difference in my life.
I want you to know that no matter how much tragedy your life holds, that I find your story to be uniquely beautiful. You have made an imprint on this world that no one else has. I hope that one day soon you can see the beauty in your own life story.
I want you to know that no matter how hopeless life feels at times, there will always be some pinnacle of hope…one that can open you up to the world once again with a newfound perspective.
I want you to know that I believe in you. I, wholeheartedly trust that you will find your way. Remember that life is about the journey, not the destination. And don’t forget to pause and enjoy the different stops along the way. After all, this is where the learning takes place.
I want you to know that I respect you for making the decision to be better than you were yesterday, and for your commitment in doing the hard work. Change can be frightening, but I guarantee that the pay offs will be grand.
I want you to know that it is a wonder to behold evidence of your growth. Sometimes you don’t see it until I have pointed it out. When you do see it, these moments have a monumental impact.
To my clients past, present, and future, I just want you to know how much I appreciate you.
With much love and care,
